 Being Dallas born, Miami bred, then Texas fed, I’ve always felt a subtle sense of connection to the island of enchanted herbs. An invaluable conversation with my mother one day revealed to me that my inclination was valid, and that I do indeed have Jamaican blood. In the 80’s, Jamaicans enter the city of Dallas with the intentions to corner the crack cocaine market in certain areas. An article was written by Jim Atkinson entitled, “The War Zone,” that gives great insight to the moment in time. It was published November of 1988. I was born 9 months prior. “EYE Love Jamaica.”🇯🇲
